I decided to rekindle my interest in model railways about 5 years ago, I became interested in N gauge mainly because I had limited space for OO gauge, I also wanted to have a layout big enough to allow realistic size train lengths. I also joined Chelmsford & District Model Railway Club

so that I could learn more about building a model railway layout.

I later went to a meeting to start an N gauge Area Group in South Essex, which now has 10 or so members.  This Group is where I met Steve, who is also a member at Chelmsford. The Area Group decided to build a layout and Steve was the person who got the project up and running, with the help of Stuart Devereux who I also got to know at the Group. I first saw Steve's "James Street" at an exhibition run by Billericay Model Railway club and was very impressed. Through the Area Group Steve asked if I was interested in helping to operate it, and I was in!. So here I am, the newest member (and tea boy!). I normally work the dockyard on the front of the layout, but have also operated the terminus and 4 track main lines.
